Wandering Mausoleums are large, mobile structures in Elden Ring which serve as means to duplicate Remembrances.
Overview[]
The Wandering Mausoleums are the resting places of soulless demigods who are Marika's unwanted children.[1][2][3] They take the form of large buildings mounted atop four legs, which wander around set areas throughout the Lands Between. Some Mausoleums have massive bells hanging from the undersides of their structures which can be heard from afar, ringing to constantly mourn its soulless demigods.[4] Most have skull-like formations in their feet which disappear and release a small amount of ghostflame when hit.
They are often guarded by Mausoleum Knights and Mausoleum Soldiers, who beheaded themselves in order to follow their masters into death,[5] a self-inflicted curse that ties their spirits to the land.[6] Their armor depicts the mausoleum bell,[7] and the knights don wing-shaped ornamentations that evoke the Deathbirds.[8]
The shields of the Mausoleum Knights is emblazoned with the eclipsed sun, which is a symbol of the Mausoleums.[9] The eclipse is the protective star of the soulless demigods and aids the Mausoleum Knights in keeping Destined Death at bay.[10]
Mechanics[]
To use mausoleums and do the process of Remembrance duplication, the player needs to enter a Wandering Mausoleum and interact with the headless corpse on the altar inside. Duplication can only be performed once per mausoleum. Remembrances belonging to Shardbearers may only be duplicated at Wandering Mausoleums with bells, while all other Remembrances can be duplicated at any Wandering Mausoleum (as shown on the table below). Remembrances can be duplicated even after they have already been used.
Typically, access to Wandering Mausoleums is granted by hitting the white skull-shaped forms found on the structure's feet, causing the Mausoleum to lower itself to a height where the player can climb onto them. In most cases, Mausoleum Knights, Mausoleum Soldiers, and Mausoleum Footsoldiers will spawn near the Wandering Mausoleums, serving as an additional obstacle to the player's access to the structures.

Locations[]
Weeping Peninsula[]
A Wandering Mausoleum can be found on the western side of Weeping Peninsula, south-east of the Fourth Church of Marika. To gain entry, attack the skull-like deposits on its legs until they disappear, while avoiding its footfalls. Once enough have been destroyed, the Wandering Mausoleum will lower itself to the ground.
Liurnia of the Lakes[]
Found to the north-east of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, guarded by several groups of Mausoleum Soldiers and Knights. Since the skull deposits are located on the rocky plateau around the Mausoleum itself, the player must make use of a spirit spring to get on top of the Mausoleum in order to destroy them.
Liurnia of the Lakes (Uld Palace Ruins)[]
Two Wandering Mausoleums can be found in the Uld Palace Ruins region in the east of Liurnia of the Lakes. Unlike every other Wandering Mausoleum, these two lack bells, and no Mausoleum Knights or Soldiers are found nearby. These are also the only Wandering Mausoleums where Remembrances which come from Shardbearer bosses cannot be duplicated. In addition to stomping, these Mausoleums can jump up in the air, creating a shockwave when they land which can damage the player.
Deeproot Depths[]
A single Wandering Mausoleum can be found in the north-western section of Deeproot Depths, guarded by many Mausoleum Knights and Soldiers. The skull-like growths are all on the upper part of the structure, so the player must jump onto it from the large roots found nearby.
Mountaintops of the Giants[]
A Wandering Mausoleum can be found outside Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants. This Mausoleum is not guarded by Mausoleum Knights or Soldiers and the growths are all found on its legs, making it relatively easy to gain access to.
Consecrated Snowfield[]
A Wandering Mausoleum near the north-western tip of Consecrated Snowfield, just south of the Apostate Derelict. It is guarded by a few Mausoleum Foot soldiers, Soldiers, and Knights; and will launch a barrage of magical projectiles when the player approaches.

Trivia[]
- The architecture of the mausoleums is strikingly similar to the architecture used by the Eternal Cities.
- The furniture inside the mausoleums is also seen in the Eternal Cities.
- Localisation Notes:
- Rather than "unwanted child", the soulless demigod(s) of the mausoleum is referred to as Queen Marika's "ugly bastard" or "ugly spawn." (醜い落とし子, Minikui Otoshigo.)
