Valiant Gargoyle is a non-respawnable enemy in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

A colossal winged guardian, mended with corpse wax, patchwork of champions.[1] They all fight with two weapons, one for quick, close-ranged combat and the other for slower, but more far-reaching, engagements. Some of their attacks are enhanced by techniques similar to the Storm Arts of Stormveil. Like themselves, the weapons have also been mended with corpse wax. Despite showing great discipline with their arsenal, they will use the Ash of War: Beast's Roar to destroy those who would run away from them.

Variant Description[]

A Valiant Gargoyle wielding a Gargoyle's Greatsword and Gargoyle's Halberd. With their greatsword in hand, they are capable of performing the Vacuum Slice skill from a far distance. When using their halberd, they can perform a variant of the Storm Assault skill.

A single one appears near the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace, praying in front of an Erdtree sapling alongside three other Oracle Envoys.

Bosses[]

Background[]

A sickly pair of Valiant Gargoyles, one wielding a Greatsword and Halberd whilst the other wields a Great Axe and Twinblade. The latter will emerge from the waterfall when the former falls below half its health. They are unable to perform Beast's Roar, instead coughing out a poisonous mist out of their bodies. This pair guard one of the entrances to Deeproot Depths.

Strategy[]

Since the second one only drops in from the cliffs above once the second gets low on health, it is best to draw the first Gargoyle to the entrance so that it takes a few seconds longer for them to gang up on you.

The poison breath is very hard to see and also quickly causes Physical damage, but it is only affect a conal area in front of the gargoyle so it can be avoided by quickly heading behind it running away a bit if close enough.

The Putrid Corpse Ashes are very useful for this fight, as even upgraded to just +4 they will keep the attention of the second gargoyle provided that they are summoned around at around 60% health of the first gargoyle. They are quite tanky, draw aggro very well, and will be summoned at the summoning monument instead of at your side, meaning they will be in the perfect spot to distract #2.

Be wary that the summoning zone doesn't quite cover the entire arena, and as such standing too close to the entrance of the arena may cause any summoned Ashes to disappear.
