Fingers cannot speak, yet these were eloquent. Persistently did they wriggle, spelling out mysteries in the air. Thus did we gain the words. The words of our faith. — Two Fingers Heirloom

The Two Fingers are NPC characters in Elden Ring. They serve as vassals to the Greater Will in the Lands Between.[2]
Overview[]
Appearance[]
Two Fingers have an appearance resembling part of a giant hand, with a slight indentation in the “palm”, and two finger-like appendages on the top, hence their name.
Background[]
The Two Fingers are the children of Metyr, Mother of Fingers,[3] and serve as divine envoys of the Greater Will.[4] They are responsible for selecting Empyreans,[5] granting them shadowbound beasts,[6] and guiding their path toward inheriting the Elden Ring. The Fingers were present when the Empyrean Marika wove the Erdtree into existence from the primordial Crucible of life.[7][1][8]
In the past, the Fingers were masters of oration, their wisdom attracting champions to Roundtable Hold.[9] They were said to communicate using a language of light,[10] composed of intangible symbols that appeared to hang in the air. These inscriptions could be fashioned into weapons such as the Cipher Pata and the Coded Sword. The Two Fingers are also the source of Two Fingers Incantations and possess the ability to restore the blessings of the Great Runes atop the ancient Divine Towers.
The Fingers are attended by Finger Readers, who interpret their wisdom for the Tarnished, those to whom Grace has returned.[11] Churches dedicated to the Two Fingers exist beyond the Lands Between, served by confessors who hunt down their enemies.[12] While some Tarnished remain faithful, the Fingers are now believed to be corrupted and senile,[13] having been broken along with the Erdtree long ago.[14]
Locations[]
One living Two Fingers can be found in Roundtable Hold, behind a set of doors that remain closed until the Tarnished champion acquires their first Great Rune. They will be at the back of the chamber with Finger Reader Enia sitting close by. The Two Fingers here appears to be in a state of decay, missing patches of skin with exposed flesh on its body and “fingers”.
There are several Two Fingers that can be found throughout the Lands Between. They can be found at the top of the Divine Towers littered about the world, however, they appear to have long since died through unknown means.
Notes[]
- The Two Fingers cannot be attacked or killed through any means during normal gameplay.
- They can only be harmed by the Fingerslayer Blade, wielded by someone with a destined fate.
- The individuals known to have been named Empyrean by the Two Fingers include Malenia, Miquella, Ranni, the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and Queen Marika herself.
- The Finger Mimic mushrooms were known as the "stillborn of the Two Fingers."[15] These fungi were harvested and consumed by the finger-weavers for their hallucinogenic properties.
Trivia[]
- Many characters distrust the Two Fingers:
- Count Ymir believes that the Fingers are themselves flawed, that the instructions they give do not come from the Greater Will but instead from the Finger's belief in what the Greater Will says.[16][17]
- Patches ridicules the Fingers.[18]
- Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing believes the purpose for the Two Fingers was lost long ago.[19]
- White Mask Varré views the Two Fingers in a poor light, believing they had fallen into madness and lost their purpose after the Greater Will abandoned the Lands Between.[13]
Dialogue[]
Although the Two Fingers do not speak directly, their words are relayed by Finger Reader Enia at certain points in the game.
