Outer God[]
I noticed that information about the One Great being an outer god was removed, and I’m wondering about the reasoning behind this decision.
- The One Great seems to fit the description outlined in the introduction of the Outer Gods article. Several other characters mentioned in the article are not explicitly referenced as "outer gods" in the game text, so it seems inconsistent to exclude the One Great. Additionally, the article currently includes a placeholder god for the Three Fingers, yet it omits the One Great, which is specified by name.
- The narrative in the game is largely told from the perspective of the Golden Order faithful, where Marika is established as the primary deity.[1] The term "outer god" seems to refer more to deities outside of Marika’s influence, rather than indicating a specific level or tier of godhood. Furthermore, most outer gods are mentioned in connection with Marika’s children, which implies that "outer god" could simply mean "not Marika."
- The story also revolves around the themes of entities being split into multiple forms[2] and different entities being combined to achieve wholeness.[3][4][5][6] Given how prevalent these motifs are, it seems reasonable to consider that the One Great might be tied to this concept at the narrative's core.[7]
I understand the importance of presenting accurate information, but I’m concerned that omitting conclusions that players are naturally led to in-game might further obscure the story for readers. Since the narrative has been finalized, I believe it’s crucial to consider these interpretations to provide a more complete understanding. Maestis (talk) 01:22, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
