Smithing Master Hewg is a character in Elden Ring. He is found at the Roundtable Hold and will bolster armaments in exchange for Runes.
Overview[]
Hewg is a blacksmith with the appearance of a Misbegotten.
Background[]
Hewg is a prisoner of Roundtable Hold, tasked with smithing weapons for the Tarnished.[1] His duty, given by Queen Marika the Eternal, is to smith a weapon to kill a god.[2][3] In the past, Hewg was indebted to a spirit tuner,[4] and when he meets Roderika he recognises that her eyes share the same hue as those of his old acquaintance.[5] Although reluctant at first, Hewg agrees to take Roderika under his wing at the insistence of the Tarnished.
After the Tarnished sets fire to the Erdtree, the Roundtable Hold also begins to burn. Hewg's chains are broken, yet he insists on remaining in the hold, where he can continue to smith weapons to slay a god, despite Roderika's pleas for him to leave.[6] As the Roundtable burns, Hewg's mental state appears to deteriorate, causing him to slur his words and, eventually, to forget both Roderika and the Tarnished.[7] Roderika decides to respect Hewg's decision to stay at the Roundtable, and resolves to remain with him.[8] Her last request is for the Tarnished to use the weapons Hewg smithed to slay Queen Marika.[9]

- Hewg can duplicate Ashes of War if given Lost Ashes of War.
Questline Progression[]
- Once Roderika arrives in Roundtable Hold, speak to Hewg and select the "About Roderika" dialogue option.
- Return to Roderika and speak to her to tell her what Hewg said.
- Return to Hewg and select "About Roderika" again, followed by "Would you watch over Roderika?" and finally "It's what she wants".
- Reload the area and Roderika will be sitting opposite Hewg. She may now be used to perform spirit tuning services.
- After burning the Erdtree, return to the Roundtable Hold and select "Let's talk a while". You may then select the dialogue option "Why are you still making weapons?" After talking to Roderika and selecting "About Hewg", return to Hewg and select "What happened to her?"
- After defeating the Godskin Duo, return to Roundtable Hold and speak to Hewg and select "About the god-slaying weapon".
- After defeating Maliketh, the Black Blade, return to Hewg and select "About yourself".
