Smarag's Glintstone Breath is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Dragon Communion Incantations.
Description[]
Superior incantation of Dragon Communion. Channels the power of Smarag, the Glintstone Dragon.
Transforms caster into a dragon to spew magic breath from above. Charging extends duration. This incantation can be cast while jumping.
Smarag was a devourer of sorcerers, and over time, his body became corrupted by their glintstones.
Acquisition[]
Dragon Communion: Caelid / Jagged Peak
- Acquired from the altar at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid for 2 Dragon Hearts after defeating Glintstone Dragon Smarag north of Temple Quarter in Liurnia.
Effects[]
The caster floats up into the air and summons a dragon head, before breathing out a wave of blue flames, dealing Magic damage equal to 188% of Incantation Scaling up to 3 times (i.e. 564% of the same cumulatively) if the entire wave hits. Continue channeling the spell to let loose a second breath, also hitting up to 3 times.
Notes[]
- Costs 60 points of Stamina to cast, and another 60 points upon using the follow-up breath.
- Damage is boosted by 10% by the Roar Medallion.
- Damage is boosted by 15% per Dragon Communion Seal held in an active hand (2 max).
- Damage is boosted by 20% when the Rock Heart is used.
- This spell can be cast midair but cannot be cast while mounted, unlike Glintstone Breath.
- Compared to Glintstone Breath, this spell deals 18% more damage but also consumes 40% more FP.
- Casting this spell until it stops costs 144 FP: 2*36 FP from the two breaths and 12*6 FP from keeping the spell running.
- Only 79 FP is actually needed for the entire routine. This is just enough to start the second breath and thereafter the game does not care that no FP remains as it will continue casting regardless.
- This is the strongest "named" dragon breath attack, dealing 19% more damage than Ghostflame Breath and 18% more damage than Agheel's Flame, though vulnerability to Frostbite can make up the damage for the former and if an enemy's Fire Damage Negation is substantially lower than its Magic Damage Negation, the latter may deal more damage.
- Deals 20% less damage against other players.
Trivia[]
- Patch 1.07 the power of the following incantations in PvP has been decreased.
- The multiplier for damage against other players was lowered from 100% to 80%.
