Shadow Bait is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Two Fingers incantations.

Description[]

Incantation of the Two Fingers' servants, who once served as the assassins of the Roundtable Hold.

Creates a pale gold shadow before the caster, luring foes of human build and attracting their aggression. This incantation can be cast while in motion or crouching, and will still affect foes that are already in a combat state.

It is said that those beguiled by the shadow see within it a hated foe.

Acquisition[]

Loot: Subterranean Shunning-Grounds

  • Shadow Bait is found on a corpse guarded by an Omen, past the large gate to the right of the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.
  • If the gate is locked, take the ladder ahead and to the left of the Grace, then continue to the doorway on the far right of the room filled with pipes.

Effects[]

The caster throws a shadowy effigy that attracts humanoid enemies within a 15-meter radius for 3 seconds. It only affects medium or smaller foes and has no effect on those already engaged in combat.[citation needed]

Notes[]

Strategies[]

  • Useful for distracting enemies to set up a Backstab or gain a brief reprieve from aggressive foes.
  • The 15-meter range is roughly 8 times the height of the player model.
  • This spell is not guaranteed to work against other players.
  • This spell has no effect on bosses.[citation needed]

Trivia[]

  • The effigy resembles the small figure of light present at Sites of Grace.
  • The confessors used these golden effigies to bypass or ambush enemies of the Two Fingers.
