The Scholar is a character in Elden Ring Nightreign, one of the two playable Nightfarer classes included in the Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC.
Description[]
Overview[]
Scholar is the perfect choice for a precise and technical playstyle. He specializes in crowd control, debuffs, and team utility, making him especially valuable in coordinated group play.
Scholar favors Thrusting Swords, which focus on pokes, counters, and spacing rather than brute force, and they synergize extremely well with his presumed reliance on Arcane as his highest stat. His movement also appears more refined than most Nightfarers, incorporating smooth sidesteps, backstep feints, and flowing motion chains that allow him to control distance while maintaining pressure.
Much like the Executor, Scholar appears to benefit heavily from status effects—however, he applies them differently. For example, pairing his Arcane scaling with a weapon like the Antspur Rapier (which applies Scarlet Rot) could lead to highly efficient status infliction across multiple enemies, especially when combined with his unique skills.

Abilities[]
Passive Ability[]
Bagcraft — "Store additional resources. Level up the power or effect of items by using them."
Increased item stack limit for consumable Tools, which can be leveled up twice during an Expedition. The Scholar can level up items by repeatedly using the item. Leveling up doesn't focus on individual items but instead on the item category. For example, if a player frequently uses a throwable pot, all throwable pots will benefit from the effect.
Increased stack limits for consumable Tools, which can be upgraded twice during an Expedition. The Scholar upgrades items through repeated use, and upgrades apply to the whole item category. If a player often uses a Throwing Pot, every Throwable Pot becomes stronger.
Bagcraft
- Item-handling level up [2] - Improves the effectiveness.
- Item-handling level up [3] - Adds a secondary effect to the item.
Character Skill[]
Analyze — "Study your enemies. The longer you observe, the better your combat advantage."
The Scholar's awareness and ability to make observations on the battlefield are his primary strengths. Analyze applies debuffs to enemies and buffs to himself and nearby allies. Activating the ability creates a large circle that marks all targets inside it. Focusing on a target triggers a red gauge that fills over time; the longer the analysis, the stronger the resulting buff or debuff. Once the indicator is complete, press the assigned button to apply the effect.
Analysis speed is distance-based: close targets fill quickly, while distant ones take longer. The Scholar is exposed during this process because he lowers his weapon, so the skill is safest to use when enemies are not pressuring him.
- Best used when multiple targets are lined up on-screen, including enemies and allies.
Analyze Buff and Debuff Effects
- Level 1 Buff - Increased Stamina
- Level 3 Buff - Conjure a shield that releases a shockwave when hit.
- Level 1 Debuff - Decreases attack.
- Level 3 Debuff - Take extra damage on the next hit received.
Ultimate Art[]
Communion — "Taboo Knowledge: Damage is shared by linked enemies and can heal threaded allies."
The Scholar's ultimate ability binds together all nearby foes and allies in an area of effect. Any damage inflicted on one linked enemy is mirrored across all others. For allies, each connected member benefits from any single source of healing.
- The Scholar is invulnerable to damage while casting Communion.
- Most effective against clustered enemies and multi-target bosses to enhance both damage output.
- Most effective when cast on both allies, significantly boosting team survivability.
Equipment[]
Scholar is unique in that his sword changes based on what cosmetic is currently equipped. This has no bearing on the damage his sword deals.
