Scarabs are enemies in Elden Ring. They are non-hostile wildlife that flee when approached.
Overview[]
Scarabs are beetles found throughout the Lands Between, typically rolling balls of various colors, which indicate the type of item they drop when killed. Scarabs are sources of valuable resources such as spells, ashes of war, smithing stones, and replenishments for the Sacred Flasks. They come in a variety of colors and sizes, each bearing an eye on their thorax.
When approached, scarabs typically attempt to flee, running from perceived threats before vanishing. Some scarabs are nearly invisible, leaving only tracks on the ground that follow a set pattern, making them predictable to hit. Certain scarabs can also fly, hovering in place until attacked. In rare cases, scarabs will explode when attacked, killing themselves and damaging nearby foes.
The laborious beetles abandoned their treasured balls and returned home when it was time for them to die.[1]
