The Scadutree is the shadow of the Erdtree,[2] and it was born of dark notions that bear no sense of Order, that twist and bend its stock, rendering it brittle. [1]
The Scadutree is holy but its gold is veiled in shadow and covered in impenetrable thorns.[3][4] Due to its holiness the Scadutree is able to bless, although it has no influence outside of the Realm of Shadow.[5] Its splinters were collected, displayed, and prayed to in some Churches of Marika by the people of the Erdtree.[6] Even some of the remains of the warriors who perished in the realm of shadow were touched by the gold of the Scadutree, a blessing said to be the greatest honor that can be granted to the dead.[7]
For those who abandoned the practice of incantations after devout faith rewarded them with only despair, the image of the misshapen Scadutree is an edict: Spurn all that exists. Wound all that exists. For we have been abandoned.[8]Denounce their ways. Do them harm. For they have abandoned us.[9]
Notes[]
The scattered sap of the Scadutree pools deep within the furnace golems.[10]
