The Royal Greatsword is a melee armament in Elden Ring.
Description[]
Greatsword decorated in royal Carian Style. Favored weapon of Blaidd the Half-Wolf.
In defiance of the fate he was born to, Blaidd swore to serve no master but Ranni. As proof. the sword was imbued with a cold magic at the moment oath was sworn.
Unique Skill: Wolf's Assault
Infuse the greatsword with frost, then perform a forward somersault to plunge it into the ground. Then, pull it out to release a cold blast.
Acquisition[]
Obtained from Blaidd, along with his armor set (except the Black Wolf Mask), when encountered at Ranni's Rise after Ranni the Witch's storyline has been completed. Killing him prior to this will award no items.
Notes[]
- The Intelligence-scaling is actually slightly stronger than the Strength-scaling despite having the same letter grade.
- This means that a pure Intelligence build is the strongest way to build this weapon. However, because scaling values become less effective after reaching 40-50 in a stat and because wielding this weapon already requires a fair investment in Strength, a hybrid Str/Int build has almost as much AR while requiring much fewer Attribute points to do.
- The weapon itself does not cause Frostbite but both parts of the skill, the stab-jump and the explosion, do cause some build-up (60 on the stab and 100 on the explosion).
Upgrading[]
- The Royal Greatsword is upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones.
- The Royal Greatsword cannot be buffed or have its affinities altered with Ashes of War or Whetblades.

Trivia[]
- This weapon's guard ratings were significantly increased with patch 1.04, from 55/63/44/44/44/42 to 71/63/44/44/44/52.

- As the description implies, this resembles a much more ornate version of the standard Greatsword.
- Shares it name with a weapon from Dark Souls 2 (external link), which was a Greatsword-type weapon and Strength-based counterpart to that game's version of the Flamberge.
