Protection of the Erdtree is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Erdtree Worship incantations.

A superior incantation of Erdtree Worship.
Increase damage negation for all affinities except physical for both the caster and nearby allies. Hold to continue praying and delay activation.
In the beginning, everything was in opposition to the Erdtree. But through countless victories in war, it became the embodiment of Order.

Protection of the Erdtree is obtained upon defeating a Teardrop Scarab located on a square platform upon a hill southeast of the Road of Iniquity Side Path Site of Grace.

Effects[]

Protection of the Erdtree grants a Body Buff that decreases Fire, Holy, Lightning, and Magic damage taken by 30% (10% in PvP) for 70 seconds for the caster and allies within a 6-meter radius.

Costs 50 Stamina per cast.
Requires 1 Memory Slot to be equipped.
This spell reduces damage taken rather than directly increasing damage negation. The total damage reduction can be expressed by the following formula, where ProtectionOfTheErdtree represents the effect magnitude:

Strategies[]

The effectiveness of this spell diminishes as non-physical damage negation increases, offering less benefit when stacked with multiple non-physical damage negation sources.
Protection of the Erdtree is a versatile defensive incantation that protects both the caster and allies from multiple damage types, making it invaluable in varied combat scenarios. Due to its accessibility early in the game, it does not require extensive stat investments, allowing many players to utilize it effectively.
This spell is particularly useful against enemies that deal elemental damage, especially during encounters with groups or multi-phase bosses that utilize different affinities.
While it is the weakest defensive Body Buff incantation, it strengthens all non-Physical damage negations, making it useful as a Furled Finger for not having to carry multiple defensive incantations when summoned via Summoning Pools.

Trivia[]

Unlike other advanced defensive incantations, Flame, Protect Me only affects the caster. Therefore, Protection of the Erdtree is the only way to grant nearby allies protection specifically against Fire damage.
