Old Albus is an NPC in Elden Ring.
Overview[]
An elderly resident of the Village of the Albinaurics, Albus was one of the few survivors of the massacre of the village at the hands of Gideon's men, and the only one to retain his sanity.[1] He was in possession of the right half of a medallion, which would grant access to Miquella's Haligtree if united with the left half, and in order to protect it he disguised himself as a pot.
The Tarnished encounters him in the village, breaking the illusion to reveal his true Albinauric form. After ascertaining that the Tarnished was not among the cursemongers, Albus bestows his half of the medallion to them, beseeching them to give it to an Albinauric woman named Latenna[2], claiming that she would need it to fulfil her purpose of seeking out the Albinaurics' chosen land.[3] With this done, he fades away, meeting the fate faced by all Albinaurics.[4]
Questline Progression[]
- Village of the Albinaurics
- Albus can be found, disguised as a pot, at the top of the slope past the Village of the Albinaurics Site of Grace, near the Depraved Perfumer. Roll or attack the pot to break the illusion and reveal Albus. Exhaust his dialogue to obtain the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right), which can be shown to Latenna the Albinauric at the Slumbering Wolf's Shack in order to progress her questline.

Ah! |
Please, no. Dear me! |
I haven't a clue. |
No secrets lie with me, not a one. |
Oh, please. Leave me be. |
Talking after breaking the illusion |
Wait, then, you're not one of them? |
Well, what a relief. |
Oh, goodness me. |
I am Albus. An Albinauric, as you can see. |
We're finished. The whole village is finished. |
The cursemongers have destroyed everything. No one that remains has their wits about them. |
I beg you. Would you look after this medallion? |
You must keep it out of the cursemongers' hands. |
And if you should meet the young Albinauric Latenna, |
then please, give it to her. |
If talked to again |
A chosen land awaits us Albinaurics. |
The medallion is the key that leads to the city. |
It's only a quaint treasure, for we who cannot make the journey. |
But for dear Latenna, it is needed. To fulfil her purpose. |
If talked to again |
My legs will soon fade, and with them, my life. |
Alas, this is the immovable fate of all Albinaurics. |
... |
If attacked |
Ngh! |
We are Albinaurics. |
We have caused you no harm! |
If the player is killed |
I will never give this up. |
Not to your kind. |
Death |
You merciless brutes. |
Let the curse take everything. |

Talking after breaking the illusion |
Note: 呪殺者ども means something like "cursed killers" or "curse killers." Was translated as "cursemongers." |
If talked to again |
If talked to again |
... |
Note: Rather than "fate", he says 宿痾 - "dwelling disease" or "innate illness." |
If attacked |
If the player is killed |
Death |
