The Nomadic Merchants are a group of merchant NPCs that can be found all over the Lands Between.

Overview[]

A clan of nomadic merchants who once thrived as the Great Caravan. They were followed by a maddening disease, and were entombed below Leyndell by Queen Marika in an attempt to bury it.[1] In their imprisonment, they chanted a curse of despair, summoning forth the Frenzied Flame.[2]

Many of their descendants can still be found throughout the Lands Between. They were spurned by Grace long ago, forcing them to live a nomadic lifestyle, unable to settle.[3] They follow a code which dictates that they may not lament their solitude, nor expect sympathy, and to show no mercy if anyone dares harm them.[4]

Nomadic merchants are often found sitting at campfires, sometimes with their Mules nearby. Some can be seen playing a somber melody on stringed instruments. The wares they sell are frequently influenced by or representative of their current locations. Each merchant wears a unique recolor of the basic outfit. The notes of information they offer are marked by colored feathers matching the seller's outfit.

The Nomads who were driven underground can be found in the Cathedral of the Forsaken, beyond the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

Lament not your solitude. Expect no sympathy. No regard. Nothing. But if anyone dares harm us, show them no mercy. That is our code, so to speak. Just the way we are. Deeply... unforgiving."
