The Misbegotten are enemies in Elden Ring.
Overview[]
According to the hornsent, Crucible aspects sprouted on a Giant in the distant past[1], and its influence would profoundly mark the life forms present in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh[2]
At some point, a group of people would make contact with the Crucible, becoming the Misbegotten[3], malformed beings that exhibit characteristics of different types of animals, often possessing tails, horns, scales, and wings. They typically have red fur and golden hair. For this act, they would be punished and treated as slaves from birth under the rule of Marika, and their appearance would make them considered impure like Omens[3] They often wield weighty, iron weapons steeped in resentment.[4]
Misbegotten appear in various regions of the Lands Between. Many found sanctuary in Haligtree Town, situated in the branches of Miquella's Haligtree. Others worship graves and a hooded warrior’s statue in Leyndell, Royal Capital, or guard ancient forges within the Realm of Shadow. A Misbegotten Crusader wields the marital sword forged by Radagon of the Golden Order and leads a group that found refuge in the Cave of the Forlorn. The only friendly Misbegotten is Smithing Master Hewg, a blacksmith cursed by Queen Marika to forge a weapon capable of killing a god. Bound to the Roundtable Hold, he labors endlessly for the Tarnished.[citation needed]
At some point, a population of Misbegotten were employed as slaves at Castle Morne; however, after the Shattering, they rebelled against Godrick's forces stationed there and took over the castle.[5] Castellan Edgar remains behind to ensure the Grafted Blade Greatsword does not fall into the wrong hands.[citation needed] Later, if the Tarnished assists Edgar, a Misbegotten murders Edgar's daughter, Irina of Morne. This drives Edgar to embrace the Frenzied Flame and become a revenger, vowing to avenge his daughter by slaughtering all Misbegotten.[citation needed]
There are four Misbegotten enemy types: cleaver-wielding Misbegotten, bow-wielding Winged Misbegotten, axe-wielding Scaly Misbegotten, and sword-wielding Misbegotten Warriors.
