Description[]

The kindling that burned inside Messmer the Impaler, a dark thing, eaten away at by a wicked serpent.
Burns the sealing tree said to be found at the old Rauh ruins.
Messmer, much like his younger sister, bore a vision of fire.

Effects[]

Messmer's Kindling enables the option to Burn the sealing tree? when interacting with the Sealing Tree,^[1] located at the Church of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. Doing so will destroy the roots obscuring Enir-Ilim, the hornsents' sacred tower.^[2]
- The Tarnished is automatically transported to Enir-Ilim.
- A ladder in the Theatre of the Divine Beast allows access to a secret section of Enir-Ilim.

Dropped by Messmer the Impaler upon defeat in Messmer's Dark Chamber at the Shadow Keep.

Interacting with the sealing tree before obtaining this item will display the following message: "The sealing tree obscures the tower in shadow. It cannot be burned without Messmer's kindling."
Messmer's Kindling is the source of Messmerfire and Messmer's Flame Incantations.^[3]
