Lost Ashes of War is a Key Item in Elden Ring.
They can be used by Smithing Master Hewg to duplicate Ashes of War. Ashes can be duplicated even if they are currently being used on a weapon; notably, this allows Ashes of War to be directly duplicated off of weapons like the Nagakiba that have Ashes pre-equipped on acquisition.

Unable to apply any kind of affinity in their current state, but can be used by Smithing Master Hewg of the Roundtable Hold to recreate other ashes.
Thus does the copy pass into becoming the genuine article.

- 1x found on a corpse in the sewers of Leyndell, Royal Capital
- 1x sold by the Nomadic Merchant in the Ainsel River ruins.
- 2x sold by the Isolated Merchant at the top of the mountain in northwestern Dragonborrow
