Royal Knight Loretta, also known as Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree, is a recurring, optional Great Enemy boss in Elden Ring.
Overview[]
Loretta is the boss of two locations: Caria Manor and Miquella's Haligtree. Her oath-sworn spectral form—Royal Knight Loretta—is found at the former, while her corporeal body defends the latter. Loretta is mechanically similar to the Tree Sentinels and Draconic Tree Sentinels and cannot be separated from her steed.
Background[]
Loretta was once a royal Carian knight,[1] and served as a personal guard for Carian royalty.[2] Loretta's favored weapon was said to be the bow, and she developed sorceries imitating the power of a greatbow.[3][4]
Loretta eventually became concerned with the plight of the Albinaurics and embarked on a long and bloody journey searching for a haven for the Albinauric people. She determined that the Haligtree was their best chance for eventual salvation.[5][6][7] It was rumored she was actually an Albinauric herself, due to the shape and symbolism associated with her Silver Mirrorshield.[8] She would eventually find it at the Haligtree, in service to demigod Miquella, where she now remains.
Loretta appears to have entered into Miquella's service, replacing the blue glintstone that once adorned her war sickle with unalloyed gold.[2] Now she stands guard within the Haligtree, refusing to abandon her post although Miquella himself is long gone. Her lapis-lazuli blue cape is the emblem of the knightly pride that continues to guide her.[1]

Background[]
Royal Knight Loretta is a boss in Elden Ring. She can be found at Caria Manor in the Royal Moongazing Grounds.
She appears to be an apparition of Loretta summoned to guard Caria Manor, just as the real Loretta presumably used to do before leaving her duty to help find sanctuary for the mistreated Albinaurics.
Defeating her disables the magical spell of warding that complicates the approach to the Manor.
Background[]
Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree is a mini-boss in Elden Ring found in Miquella's Haligtree and is required to progress to Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. This boss is a stronger version of Royal Knight Loretta, found in Caria Manor.
It is possible to parry Loretta's halberd swings.Notes[]
- Defeating Royal Knight Loretta for the first time unlocks the "Royal Knight Loretta" achievement. Similarly, defeating Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree for the first time unlocks the "Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree" achievement.
- Loretta is presumed to be an Albinauric Archer in disguise.
- Rumored to be an Albinauric, she cares deeply for them, abandoning her duty to travel to the Haligtree.
- This female character appears only on horseback and demonstrates unmatched skill with the bow.
- Her naming scheme aligns with Latenna.
- Loretta's War Sickle, Royal Knight Armor, and Silver Mirrorshield were crafted from silver.
- The Carians were known to employ Albinaurics as servants.
- Although she bleeds red when struck, so does Commander Gaius, a known First-Generation Albinauric. The red blood may be attributed to the mount and rider being coded as a single enemy, with red chosen over white because players are more likely to hit the horse or boar.
