Lightning Spear is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Dragon Cult Incantations.
Description[]
One of the incantations of the capital's ancient dragon cult.
Summons a lightning spear and hurls it before the caster. Charging causes a lightning bolt to strike the point of impact.
Long ago, Godwyn the Golden defeated the ancient dragon Fortissax, and befriended his fallen foe — an event that gave rise to the ancient dragon cult in the capital.
Acquisition[]
Purchase: Roundtable Hold / Liurnia of the Lakes / Altus Plateau / Leyndell, Royal Capital / Mountaintops of the Giants
- Sold for 6,000 Runes by Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows after giving either of them the Dragon Cult Prayerbook.
- Should the prayerbook be given to one of them and then have that instructor die before purchasing this Incantation, then the player can still purchase it from the Twin Maiden Husks for the same price, after giving them the respective tutor's Bell Bearing.
- WARNING: Should both Corhyn and Miriel die before giving either of them the prayerbook then this incantation becomes unavailable for that character until a new Journey is started.
Effect[]
Creates a small, golden spear in hand to throw, with Lightning Attack Power equal to 234% of Incantation Scaling.
Charging the incantation increases the Attack Power to 293% of Incantation Scaling.
Notes[]
- Casting the spell costs 28 points of Stamina. Charging it increases the cost to 36 points of Stamina.
- Deals 5 Stance damage. Charging the spell increases the Stance damage to 9.
- Attack Power is boosted by 15% by the Godfrey Icon if charged.
- Since charging the spell already increases Attack Power by 25%, wearing this talisman increases the Attack Power by a total of 44%.
- Attack Power is boosted by 15% per Gravel Stone Seal held in an active hand (2 max).
- Attack Power is boosted by 2% per piece of the Death Knight Set that is being worn.
- Charging this incantation more than doubles the casting time. In fact, though Knight's Lightning Spear is a good bit slower when both are cast uncharged, if they are charged they take the same amount of time to cast.
- Non-player characters will not actively try to dodge the uncharged version of this incantation. This is especially useful when fighting against evasive foes such as Tarnished-type enemies, since they are otherwise near-perfect at dodging projectile attacks.
- If the incantation hits a watery surface or an enemy standing on such a surface, a small area of effect attack with Lightning Attack Power equal to 50% of Incantation Scaling will be created that can hit the target foes and any adjacent enemies.
- Also deals 2 Stance damage regardless of if the original Lightning Spear was charged or not.
Trivia[]
- Patch 1.07 increased attack power when charged.
- This increased the Attack Power of the charged version from 273% of Incantation Scaling to 293% of Incantation Scaling.
- Patch 1.03 seems to have included an undocumented changed which increased the FP cost of this incantation.
- FP cost was increased from 14 to 18.
