Leyndell, Royal Capital is a legacy dungeon on the Altus Plateau in Elden Ring. This area is revealed on the map by collecting Map: Leyndell, Royal Capital.
Overview[]
Leyndell, Royal Capital sits at the foot of the Erdtree on Altus Plateau. It is connected to the Capital Outskirts, Forbidden Lands, and Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. The city is enclosed by double ramparts,[1] with the city proper contained within the inner wall. The current lord of Leyndell is Morgott the Grace-Given,[2] a Demigod of the Golden Lineage,[3] who took it upon himself to become the Erdtree's protector, despite being born a graceless Omen.[4]
Long ago, the city was assaulted by the colossal Ancient Dragon Gransax- the only time in recorded history that Leyndell's walls have fallen. This marked the dawn of the War of the Ancient Dragons.[5] The bloody conflict came to an end when Godwyn the Golden befriended the dread Fortissax,[6] an event which gave rise to the capital's Ancient Dragon Cult.[7] Gransax's corpse can still be found towering over much of the city.
The Fortified Manor, in the southwestern portion of the city, is a perfect likeness of the Roundtable Hold. In its heyday, the manor was the headquarters of the Two Fingers and the warriors of Elden Lord Godfrey.[8] Unlike the Table of Lost Grace, where Tarnished champions gather, the Fortified Manor is completely abandoned.
Far below the city is the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, a network of sewers and waterways inhabited by the Omen. The Leyndell Catacombs also branch off from this underground realm. Even further below lies the Cathedral of the Forsaken, where the Great Caravan of nomadic merchants were entombed so as to bury the Madness that followed them.[9] In their underground prison they chanted a curse of despair, summoning the Frenzied Flame.[10]
The Elden Throne sits beneath the Erdtree, in the south-eastern area of the city. It is here that Morgott stands guard, determined to protect the Erdtree from would-be champions.
