Knight's Lightning Spear is an incantation spell in Shadow of the Erdtree. It is one of the Dragon Cult Incantations.
Description[]
One of the incantations of the capital's ancient dragon cult.
Summons a lightning spear while also manifesting ancient dragon crests. On throwing the spear, the crests will launch additional spears. Charge to increase the number of crests and add a bolt of lightning to impact.
An incantation that was taught only to the most accomplished knights, and now a lost art in the Lands Between.
Acquisition[]
Loot: Scorpion River Catacombs
- After arriving in the room with a spiked falling roof, keep to the right to find a ladder in one of the small safe spots around the corner (in the second half of the room) and climb up it. Cross the bridge to the right and then, after waiting for the Death Blight build-up to subside, use a thin ledge to the left to cross to the side with the Death Blight inflicting statue to find a short tunnel with the Incantation at the end, guarded by two Imps wielding Greatswords.
Effect[]
Creates a spear of Lightning to hurl, with Attack Power equal to 138% of Incantation Scaling, accompanied by four sigils that create additional follow-up spear to hit twice with Attack Power equal to 50% of Incantation Scaling per hit.
Charging the spell creates two more sigils that each launch a new spear, and increases the first spear's Attack Power to 164% of Incantation Scaling, though there's still only two hits total from the follow-up spears.
Notes[]
- Attack Power is boosted by 15% by the Godfrey Icon if charged.
- Though the initial Attack Power is boosted by 19% (37% with the talisman above) when charged, the additional spears do not do any extra Attack Power (though the two actual damaging hits do gain a 15% Attack Power boost with the talisman), making the overall boost 11% (28% with the talisman) when charged.
- Attack Power is boosted by 15% per Gravel Stone Seal held in an active hand (2 max).
- Attack Power is boosted by 2% per piece of the Death Knight Set that is being worn.
- Deals 27 Stance damage if it's charged and all projectiles hit, about on par with a Straight Sword's charged heavy attack but at range, making it very strong at opening enemies for Critical Attacks.
- A full uncharged hit deals 15 Stance damage.
- Enemies will not react to the casting of either the charged or uncharged version. This is unlike Lightning Spear, where only the uncharged version is not noticed by enemies.
- The sigils will always launch additional spears if created, even if the caster is interrupted before they can throw the first spear.
- Slightly stronger than Lightning Spear when it comes to the FP-to-damage ratio and deals considerably more damage per hit, but the uncharged version takes 0.3 seconds, or 55% more time, to cast.
- If the incantation hits a watery surface or an enemy standing on such a surface, a small area of effect attack with Lightning Attack Power equal to 50% of Incantation Scaling will be created that can hit the target foes and any adjacent enemies.
- Also deals 2 Stance damage regardless of if the original Knight's Lightning Spear was charged or not.
- This effect can be triggered up to 2 times per cast, once from the initial spear and then a second time from the follow-up spears hitting.
Trivia[]
- This spell is used by the Death Knights.
- Patch 1.13 PvP-only adjustments: increased attack power of the initial lightning spear, decreased attack power of the spears launched after the first one, decreased Poise damage of all spears generated by this spell.
- This increased the Attack Power of the first spear by 40% and decreased the Attack Power of the follow-up spears by 20% against other players, increasing overall Attack Power by 2% in PvP.
- The patch actually increased damage to Poise done by this spell, doubling it.
