Godefroy the Grafted is an optional mini-boss in Elden Ring found in the Altus Plateau at the Golden Lineage Evergaol.
Lore[]
A member of the Golden Lineage, he is a descendant of Godfrey, First Elden Lord, and Queen Marika the Eternal.[1] Much like his kinsman Godrick the Grafted, Godefroy has practised the grotesque act of grafting.
At some point while the alliance of the Shardbearers still ruled over Leyndell, Royal Capital[2][3], Godefroy plotted to seize control of the capital. The demigod apparently managed to recruit an army that assumed strong enough for the attack. Godefroy also made use of the special characteristic of his Shaman flesh[4], grafting into his body parts of corpses in an attempt to gain more strength.[5]
Godefroy would lead his men into what would become known as the First Defense of Leyndell, but ended up fighting around the Second Church of Marika, in the middle of Altus and well distant from even the outer walls of the capital.[6]. The demigod and his soldiers would suffer a complete defeat at the hands of soldiers of Leyndell with their leader captured by Knight Kristoff, a member of the Ancient Dragon Cult of the capital.[2]
Godefroy was imprisoned in the Golden Lineage Evergaol with only his axe in a secluded area close to the Grand Lift of Dectus and guarded by Vulgar Militia men.[7] Though he was defeated, the demigod's attack would precipitate the deterioration of the sovereign alliance between the Shardbearers caused by the traces of the Night of Black Knives still lingering. This would eventually lead to the demigods clashing against each other and the following wars of the Shattering.[8]
Trivia[]
- Godefroy possessed the Godfrey Icon, a legendary talisman depicting Godfrey and Serosh, the patriarch and guide the Golden Lineage[9] even during his imprisonment.[1]
- Godefroy had access to the corpses of Trolls and Banished Knights with the power of the storm to graft to his body.
Walkthrough[]
Players who encounter Godefroy have most likely already defeated his relative, Godrick the Grafted. The same strategies used to defeat Godrick can be used here, since Godefroy uses the same moveset as Godrick's first phase, but without the second phase.
Be aware that he is considerably tankier, having twice as much HP as Godrick (12.5k vs 6k) and not being able to summon anything or anyone in his arena. He will also deal much more damage, even for his location.
Upon defeating Godefroy, he drops the Godfrey Icon.
