These merchants once thrived as the Great Caravan, but after being accused of heretical beliefs, their entire clan was rounded up and buried alive far underground. Then, they chanted a curse of despair, and summoned the flame of frenzy.- Nomadic Merchant's Finery

Frenzied Flame Proscription is a Site of Grace located within the Lands Between in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

The Frenzied Flame Proscription lies at the bottom of a catacombs in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds deep below Leyndell, Royal Capital. This area can only be accessed after defeating Mohg, the Omen at the Cathedral of the Forsaken. The path is concealed by an illusory wall at the altar, leading downward.

The area is filled with countless mummified Nomads who play a haunting melody on their stringed instruments. The Great Caravan were immured here by Queen Marika after they were accused of harboring the Frenzied Flame.[1] In their despair, they summoned the Three Fingers.[2]

After navigating down the beams, jump to the bottom; the floor will collapse, delivering the Tarnished to the eponymous Site of Grace. An illusory wall opposite the Grace conceals a treasure chest containing a Rune Arc. A second illusory wall reveals a hidden path to the Deeproot Depths near the Sites of Grace Root-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace.

Lord of Frenzied Flame[]

Warning: Meeting the Three Fingers locks the player into the "Lord of Frenzied Flame" ending, an action that may only be reversed by using Miquella's Needle.

If her questline has been advanced, Finger Maiden Hyetta will wait patiently on the side of the hall opposite the Site of Grace. She urges the Tarnished to seek an audience with the Three Fingers, whose sanctum lies beyond a large stone door that was partially melted by searing fingerprints.[3] The door may only be opened once and only after unequipping all armor.

After receiving the Flame of Frenzy, speak with Hyetta,[4] who can then interpret the words of the Fingers to their chosen Lord of Frenzied Flame.[5]

Notes[]

  • There are no bosses at this location.
  • Once the Tarnished reaches the bottom, they can jump from the top of the dungeon without taking any fall damage.
  • The Unendurable Frenzy attack used by the Nomads can break the destructible objects that conceal the Nomadic Merchant's Set, Eye of Yelough, and Note: Miquella's Needle.
    • Alternatively, stand beside the tents, quit, and reload the game to demolish the obstacle.
  • The Great Caravan may have been imprisoned for possessing the Fingerprint Stone Shield.

Trivia[]

  • Cut content In a cut version of Merchant Kalé's questline, he actively searched for the Great Caravan.[6] His journey would have brought him to the Frenzied Flame Proscription,[7] where he would express tremendous anger toward the people of the Erdtree for what happened to his ancestors.[8] Kalé then attempted to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame.[9]
    • This questline may have been replaced with Lightseeker Hyetta's, as both directed the player to seek the Three Fingers.[10]

  3. Lightseeker Hyetta: "Ah, so you're here as well, are you? ...I realised as we've talked. I'll be a Maiden, and you... Surely, a Lord. Go to the door ahead, after divesting yourself of your possessions. It will surely open, and the Three Fingers will welcome you. May the flame of chaos find purchase within you."
  4. Finger Maiden Hyetta: "Ahh, the flame of chaos has nestled within you. Could you please rest your hand upon me? Burn me with the flame, to make me your maiden..."
  5. Finger Maiden Hyetta: "Thank...thank you... I have touched them. The words of the Three Fingers. As your maiden, allow me to divine them."
  6. Cut content Merchant Kalé: "I hope you can join me at the Great Caravan, in fact. Who knows what wonders there might be to trade?"
  7. Cut content Merchant Kalé: "I can't imagine how it ended up there... But the well might just lead under the capital. To the spot indicated by the cryptogram from the letter. Seems like an odd place for the Great Caravan... But no amount of thinking will change anything. I'll be heading straight there, after some preparation."
  8. Cut content Merchant Kalé: "Did you see? What they did to my ancestors? The whole clan, buried alive. Sick. Maddened. Husks of themselves. Have you heard their moans? They're hardly human anymore. They think we worship the Three Fingers? That we called the maddening sickness down upon them? Well. If that's what they expect from us, then that's what they shall get from us! The world of grace and its people should have been content to see us sink between the cracks. But to have intruded upon our solace... Having broken us upon their whims... I'll never forgive any of you."
  9. Cut content Merchant Kalé: "O Three Fingers, throw wide the door. Please, bestow unto me the yellow flame of chaos. A frenzied flame to melt away the curses, suffering, and despair. And the Order, entire. May chaos take the world. May chaos take the world."
  10. Cut content Merchant Kalé: "The frenzied flame...burned me... I was not... a suitable home. Unknown warrior... You, who reached the Three Fingers' abyss... Tell the one... Who will become Lord... Divest yourself of everything, and head to the door. Divest yourself of everything... And pray to the Lord... To melt away the curses, suffering, and despair. And the Order, entire. May chaos...take the world."
