Formless Serpents

The Formless Serpents are an unseen faction in Elden Ring.

Background[]

The Formless Serpents were a company of assassins known for their expertise in archery and poison.^[1]^[2] Their bows were imbued with pagan magic, which amplified the lethality of their venomous arrows.^[3]

Characteristics[]

The Formless Serpents wielded equipment designed with elaborate serpentine motifs.^[4] Their enchanted bows were adorened with two serpents, intricately carved and poised to strike. Their arrows resembled flying snakes, with spiraling tails and fangs that dripped with venom.^[5]

Notes[]

The Serpent Bow is found in an Abandoned Cave tainted by the Scarlet Rot. It is located in proximity to Rot disciples, putrid Miranda blossoms, and broken down Abductor Virgins.

The bronze snakes worn by the gladiators were also poisonous.^[6]^[7] In the age of Lord Godfrey, the poisonous snake was loathed as a traitor to the Erdtree.^[8]

Trivia[]

In patch 1.00, the Formless Serpents were hated denizens of the Shaded Castle. The Serpent Arrow was updated to remove the following text:

Arrow carved to resemble a slender serpent. Its fangs are daubed with a fast-acting venom. Afflicts targets with a powerful poisoning effect.
These arrows were used by the people of the Shaded Castle, making them all the more hated by their enemies.
