Flame, Protect Me is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Fire Monk incantations.
Description[]
The most ancient of the Fire Monks' incantations.
Creates a fire within that greatly increases fire damage negation.
It is said that this incantation was used during the War against the Giants long ago, during which it protected the champions of the Erdtree.
Acquisition[]
Loot: Mountaintops of the Giants
- Flame, Protect Me can be found in the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave in the Mountaintops of the Giants. It is located behind an imp statue fog wall right next to the dungeon's grace. One Stonesword Key is required to access it.
Effects[]
Flame, Protect Me applies a Body Buff that increases Fire Damage Negation by 60% (20% in PvP) for 70 seconds.
Notes[]
- Costs 30 FP per cast.
- Costs 20 Stamina per cast.
- Requires 1 Memory Slot.
- This incantation reduces damage taken rather than directly increasing damage negation. The total Fire damage reduction can be expressed by the following formula, where FlameProtect represents the PvE/PvP effect multiplier:
- For example, if Fire damage negation is 25 at the time of casting, the total reduction against PvE enemies would be 70%:
- Against other players, the total reduction would be 40%:
Boosting[]
- Old Lord's Talisman extends the duration from 70 to 91 seconds.
Strategies[]
- Acquired very late, most often after every significant Fire-heavy area and boss except for Mountaintops of the Giants itself and the Fire Giant, and perhaps Dragonlord Placidusax.
- If doing the Volcano Manor questline to access Praetor Rykard, then he can be fought after acquiring this incantation since the last assassination also takes place in Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave
- This is the only improved elemental defense buff that doesn't also apply to nearby allies.
- The only way to also buff nearby allies with Fire Damage Negation is Protection of the Erdtree, which also increases Holy, Lightning, and Magic Damage Negation.
Trivia[]
- This incantation is one of the oldest known techniques among the Fire Monks.
