Fire Monk is an enemy in Elden Ring.
Overview[]
Warrior-monks who reside in the Mountaintops of the Giants. During the War Against the Giants, the Fire Monks fought on behalf of the Erdtree. They devised "Flame, Protect Me", an incantation which shielded the champions of the Erdtree from the Giants' Flame.[1] After the war had concluded, the flame of ruin was sealed away, and the Fire Monks were appointed to watch over it.[2][3] They were led in this ordeal by the Fire Prelates[4], and in turn led the Guilty; exiled criminals who wielded thorn sorceries.
After many years, the Fire Monks succumbed to the allure of the flame of ruin[5], beguiled by it.[6] Wielding fire-based incantations, the Fire Monks continued to keep watch over the flame, bearing the likeness of the fell god upon their chestplates.[7]
At some point, the incantation "Flame of the Fell God", which had been kept secret by Chief Guardian Arghanthy, was stolen by a thief named Adan.[8] Several Fire Monks travelled to Liurnia of the Lakes to seek him out[9], erecting camps in the lands on either side of the lake while they searched.
A Flame Monk named Amon fled his duty to watch over the Giants' Flame out of cowardice, instead swearing fealty to the god-slaying black flame.[10] He was followed by others, enthralled by the black flame[11], who became known as Blackflame Monks.
