Fire's Deadly Sin is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Flame incantations.
Description[]
Incantation originating from a deeply ominous prophecy.
Sets both the caster and the surrounding area ablaze with raging flames. The caster's body will remain engulfed in flame for a while, burning them and any who draw near. Charging enhances potency.
The prophet despaired, looking up at the Erdtree, for soon the kindling would burst into flame, bringing ruin.
Acquisition[]
Painting Item: Altus Plateau
- Left behind by the spirit of an artist located near the southern cliffs at the top of Dominula, Windmill Village, south of the Windmill Heights Site of Grace after acquiring "Flightless Bird" Painting.
Effects[]
Slam down on the ground do hit with Fire Attack Power equal to 183% of Incantation Scaling with a 3 meter radius and gain a Body Buff that hits 4/s with 45 Fire Attack Power with a 2 meter radius while ignoring Guarding. Lasts for 40 seconds and damages the caster for 6/s (240 damage total).
Charging the spell increases the Attack Power of the initial fire explosion to 212% of Incantation Scaling and the Body Buff's Attack Power per tick to 59. Self damage is increased to 8/s (320 damage total).
Notes[]
- Costs 10 FP per cast.
- Costs 28 Stamina per cast. Charging the spell increases Stamina cost to 36.
- Requires 1 Memory Slot.
- The initial fire explosion deals 7 Stance damage while the ticks from the Buff deals 0 Stance damage per hit. Charging the spell increases the Stance damage of the initial explosion to 10.
- The self damage is technically 3/0.5 seconds for the uncharged version and 4/0.5 seconds for the charged version.
Boosting[]
- Fire Scorpion Charm increases Fire Attack Power by 12% (8% in PvP).
- Flame, Grant Me Strength increases Fire Attack Power by 20% (15% in PvP) for 30 seconds as a Body Buff.
- Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear increases Fire Attack Power by 20% (15% in PvP) for 3 minutes.
- Old Lord's Talisman increases the duration of this spell from 40 to 52 seconds.
- Attack Power is boosted by 15% by the Godfrey Icon if charged.
- Since charging the spell already increases Attack Power by 16% for the explosion and by 31% for the ticks, wearing this talisman increases the Attack Power by a total of 33% for the explosion and by 51% for the ticks.
Strategies[]
- The Attack Power is too low to reliably defeat most enemies without additional sources of damage.
- Fire attacks cleanse targets of their Frostbite buildup, resetting the status effect. This spell synergizes particularly well with Frostbite builds by allowing them to trigger Frostbite damage more frequently than usual.
- The constant HP drain from this spell can be mitigated by using the Blessing of the Erdtree or Blessing's Boon incantations, the Crimsonburst Crystal Tear; the Blessed Dew Talisman, the Icon Shield, or the Royal Remains Armor. Equipping the full Royal Remains Set will completely offset the damage.
Trivia[]
- Like Catch Flame and Flame Sling, this incantation does not produce a spell sigil when cast, indicating that it technically doesn't belong to the Giants' Flame subtype and isn't boosted by the Giant's Seal.
- Brother Corhyn was one of the prophets exiled for glimpsing the forbidden flame of ruin, a transgression that led to banishment.[1]
- In a prior version of Elden Ring, this spell could guarantee the activation of the Erdtree Greatshield's Golden Retaliation skill, triggering its golden projectile whenever used.
- Additionally, this spell used to inherit the on-hit effects of active Weapon Buffs. Most notably, this included the Blood Loss buildup from Bloodflame Blade and the Death Blight effect from the Eclipse Shotel's Death Flare skill, resulting in devastating consequences.
- Patch 1.03: Fixed a bug which causes Fire's Deadly Sin incantation to have different effect.
