Elemer of the Briar is a reoccurring boss in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

Elemer of the Briar, also known as the Bell Bearing Hunter, originally hailed from Eochaid, a land of proudly solitary ascetics.[1] He wears iron armor wrapped in iron thorns, which are a mark of the guilty and of those sentenced to death.[2] He was slated for execution at the Shaded Castle, home of the family of House Marais, however he evaded death by snatching the sword from the site of his looming execution and furnished it with battle skills from his homeland.[3] He gained the moniker "Bell Bearing Hunter" by killing numerous merchants and instructors[4], and taking their Bell Bearings.

Elemer can be encountered in the Castellan's Hall of the Shaded Castle, the site of his failed execution. He can also appear in various locations throughout the Lands Between, typically in places where merchants can be found.

The Bell-Bearing Hunter will only appear when resting at night; to make him reappear after being defeated yourself, rest at the grace and set the time to night and then rest again.

Can include a separate table for a specific instance of this variant's moveset.

Strategy[]

  • Try to stick close to him as his ranged sword swipes are much wider and generally harder to predict.
  • It is possible to bait him into a cycle of repeated shield slams by getting behind him and only landing one attack (lighter weapons can possibly use an uncharged heavy attack and some skills are quick enough to also be used) after each slam. Be aware that he can also follow up with an explosion sometimes, so take a moment to see if the shield begins to glow red as he is about to pull it up.
  • The grab is rather hard to dodge and very delayed. Wait until his hand begins to move towards you before dodging. It is also possible to dodge by running far enough away or by being behind him.
  • The blade drill is hard to avoid if rolling to the right and has some reach so try to roll forward and to the left.
  • His shield charge is very quick so try to stay relatively close as to not provoke it.

Bosses[]

Background[]

Elemer is encountered in the hall at the top of the Shaded Castle. He can channel energy through his sword, allowing him to send it towards the player and control it at a distance, or fire a red beam by rotating it quickly.

The first time he is encountered he will be facing the painting at the end of the room, making a heavy initial attack such as a charged heavy attack more possible. On subsequent attempts he will be facing the entrance.

Background[]

The Bell Bearing Hunter appears in Warmaster's Shack at night. He will only spawn if the player has talked to Knight Bernahl and exhausted his dialogue. Bernahl will not be present while the Bell Bearing Hunter is spawned, but will reappear if the player dies or if they defeat the boss.

Background[]

The Bell Bearing Hunter will appear inside the Church of Vows at night. To get him to spawn, speak to Miriel, Pastor of Vows and listen to all of his dialogue options. Miriel will not be present when the Bell Bearing Hunter appears, but will reappear if the player dies or if they defeat the boss.

Background[]

The Bell Bearing Hunter appears at night, in the Hermit Merchant's Shack in the Capital Outskirts. The Hermit Merchant (Capital Outskirts) will disappear for the duration of the fight, but will reappear if the player dies or if they defeat the boss.

This version is actually stronger than Elemer's own fight.

Background[]

The Bell Bearing Hunter appears at night, outside the Isolated Merchant's Shack in Greyoll's Dragonbarrow. The Isolated Merchant (Dragonbarrow) will disappear for the duration of the fight, but will reappear if the player dies or if they defeat the boss.

This version is actually the strongest of all the Bell-Bearing Hunter encounters and has twice the health of Elemer's own, named encounter.

Notes[]

Trivia[]

  • Internally referred to as "hagetakakishi", which means "vulture knight".
