The Elden Ring Closed Network Test was a Demo intended to stress test Elden Ring's online matchmaking servers. This version of the game is also known to have some slightly different assets and code, which have been used by fans to show differences between planned content and the final release of the game.

ELDEN RING – Closed Network Test Announcement
The Demo was announced on the 18th of October 2021 in which players could register to participate in testing the demo within November 1st 2021, after which participants who won a spot for the demo would have recivied an invitation code by November 9th, 2021.

There were a total of five characters available to choose from in the demo, three of which would end up not being available in the retail version of the game, those being Enchanted Knight,Champion and Bloody Wolf, granted the Champion would ultimately be succeeded by the Hero origin.

The explorable area would generally be limited to West Limgrave and a southern third of Stormveil Castle, some locations would end up having their names changed in the final game and some would even have their enemies and bosses replaced.
