The demi-humans are a faction in Elden Ring.
Background[]

The demi-humans were once guided by the stars
In a bygone era, after beasts were granted intelligence,[1][2][3] the demi-humans were glintstone sorcerers who studied the stars.[4] They were led by wise and powerful queens who mastered glintstone sorcery. These matriarchs were said to have knighted their chosen swordsmen with magical Star-Lined Swords. These royal blades, encrusted with shards of crude glintstone, symbolized the procession of the stars.[5] Each swordsman swore an oath to unveil the secret that awaited at the line's end.
Later, a master swordsman named Onze discovered a grim truth at the end of the stars.[6] In an attempt to forestall a ruinous fate,[7] he sealed himself away deep within the Belurat Gaol. His devoted apprentice, Yosh, defied him and spent the remainder of his days in hermitage by his side.[8]
Decline[]

The demi-humans lost their intelligence
At some point, the demi-humans were stripped of their staggering intelligence and were reduced to violent, cave-dwelling brutes.[1][2][9] Their blood began to boil, and their eyes shone red beneath the moonlight.[10] Their vast knowledge of the cosmos vanished as they reverted into savagery.
Demi-human society remained stratified, but its complexity was greatly diminished. Although sorceress queens still reigned over large colonies, most demi-humans fragmented into small bands formed under chiefs. They yielded to strength and valued toughness.[11] Nonetheless, demi-humans became cowards who only ventured out from the safety of their caves to raid or ambush travelers on the road.[12] The very few that retained their wits or manners were beaten and shunned.[13]
Despite their general incivility, demi-humans were capable of amicable relations during the age of the Erdtree. The principled and noble Kenneth Haight once forged an alliance with a group of demi-humans at his fort in east Limgrave.[14] Some glintstone sorcerers left the Academy of Raya Lucaria to dwell among the demi-humans. They offered specialty staves to the queens to earn their trust and observe their dormant magic.[9] A mission was established at a village on Mt. Gelmir ruled by Queen Maggie—the very colony that Primeval Sorcerer Azur joined after glimpsing the Primeval Current beyond the wisdom of stone.[15][16]
Characteristics[]

Demi-human queens tower over their underlings
Demi-humans are bestial in appearance, often characterized by fur, elongated faces, and pointed ears. They exhibit a blend of human and mammalian features, yet all share the common trait of possessing five fingers and toes. While typically shorter than the Tarnished, demi-humans vary greatly in size—some are as small as children while others are of towering stature. The chiefs and queens are tattooed with archaic symbols.
Demi-humans wield a variety of melee weapons, including clubs, falchions, knives, daggers, and rickety shields. Those who prove their toughness carry spiked clubs.[11] The ancient swordsmen among them remain devoted to their star-lined blades, while their queens cast remedial glintstone sorceries with the wave of a sceptor. Although many demi-humans carry string,[17] few demi-humans are known for their skill with sewing needles.[18]
As night falls, demi-humans become increasingly feral and aggressive, their eyes glowing a menacing red. In certain queens, this glow is permanent, shifting to a deep, ominous purple.
