The Deep of Night, also known as the Deep Night is a gameplay mode in Elden Ring Nightreign, included in an update that launched on September 11, 2025.
Overview[]
The Deep of Night is a ranked game mode that offers greater challenges with increasing difficulty to veteran Nightfarers who have braved the Night's Tide many times. Enemies are stronger than usual, the target Nightlord cannot be specified, and Shifting Earth changes are not reflected. Exclusive rewards such as Depths Relics and weapons with multiple additional but also detrimental effects can appear. Difficulty increases with each descent, and ratings fluctuate with wins and losses, directly influencing the Depth (levels 1 through 5). Increase rank through victory and journey deeper into the infinite Night.[1][2]
Key Features[]
- The Deep of Night is a high-difficulty ranked challenge mode
- Progress through 'Depths' levels 1 through 5, each rank increasing difficulty
- 'Depths' 4 and 5 function as an "endless mode"
- Ratings fluctuate according to wins and losses; reaching 1,000 increases your Depth.
- Fully-randomized Nightlords
- Fully-randomized Shifting Earth events
- Stronger, tankier 'Red' Enemies and Bosses, identified by veiny red visual effects, that drop potent Red-rarity items
- When the mode is unlocked, every Chalice for each Nightfarer gains three extra Relic slots (a total of six per vessel) dedicated to special Depths Relics.
- Depths Relics: powerful relics touched by the Deep of Night that only activate in the Deep of Night game mode.[3] They provide both positive and negative effects.
- Red-rarity armaments: powerful weapons found in the Deep of Night that have two positive effects and one adverse effect; otherwise equal to purple Rare items in terms of gameplay
- New beneficial Effects unique to Depths Relics and Red-rarity weapons.
