There are several Damage Types in Elden Ring, divided by being either Physical or Elemental.
Physical damage types[]
- Standard is the damage dealt by attacks that are neither particularly sharp, nor heavy, nor thin, such as those from Axes and Straight Swords.
- Strike is the damage dealt by heavy and blunt attacks, such as those from Hammers and many Colossal Weapons.
- Slash is the damage dealt by sharp attacks, such as those from Claws and Curved Swords.
- Pierce is the damage dealt by thrusting attacks, such as those from Thrusting Swords and Spears. They have the additional benefit of dealing increased damage against attacking foes.
Non-Physical damage types[]
- Fire is the damage dealt by flaming attacks, and are common among Incantations and Torches.
- Holy is the damage dealt by bright golden attacks, and are common among Incantations and Weapons associated with the Erdtree, the various Two Fingers, and the Rune of Death.
- Lightning is the damage dealt by attacks that sparkle with yellow or red lightning, and are common among Incantations and weapons associated with Ancient Dragons.
- Magic is the damage dealt by Frostbite-based and blue or turqoise attacks, and are most common among Sorceries.
