The confessors are a faction in Elden Ring.

Overview[]

The confessors are a group of wandering priests and enforcers who operate in the shadows on behalf of the Two Fingers.[1] Many confessors were once Tarnished who had strayed from the Guidance of Grace, choosing to serve the Fingers in their graceless darkness.[2][citation needed] The confessors were originally founded at the Roundtable Hold, which serves as their base of operations.[3] However, their covert work often takes them beyond the Lands Between, serving churches loyal to the Fingers' teachings.[4] Many of their Two Fingers incantations are preserved in assassin's prayerbooks.

Dressed in black leather armor to blend seamlessly into the night,[5] confessors use their talents to eliminate enemies of the Fingers and rogue Tarnished alike.[6] They employ subterfuge to distract and confound their enemies,[7] setting the stage for a deadly ambush. Using ritual implements, they masked the sound of their movements, causing many paranoid Tarnished to dread total silence.[8]

One of the most prominent head confessors, Crepus, wielded a long-range black-key crossbow, fitted with spiral-tipped bolts that injected scarlet rot deep into his targets.[9][10] Another assassin, Rileigh the Idle, also used the black-key crossbow along with a dagger fashioned from the stinger of a great scorpion. Eventually, Rileigh's activities drew the attention of the Volcano Manor.[11]
