Gaius and Radahn were good rivals in their youth, and this

sorcery is a product of their friendly competition. Blades of Stone

Commander Gaius is an optional boss in Shadow of the Erdtree encountered outside the backdoor of the Shadow Keep.

Background[]

Commander Gaius was a noted warrior and military strategist who rode a giant boar as his steed. Gaius studied gravitational magic from an Alabaster Lord.[1] He was a fellow student of Radahn, a future demigod. He also befriended Messmer the Impaler, as both had in common that they were cursed from birth. The pair acted as elder brothers to Radahn, with whom Gaius formed a friendly rivalry.[2][3]

Messmer's Crusade[]

When Messmer embarked on the purge of the Land of Shadow on Queen Marika the Eternal's orders, Gaius accompanied Messmer and directed his soldiers. He was never without his boar.[4] Even when Marika abandoned Messmer, Gaius remained steadfast, guarding the backdoor of Shadow Keep. It was here that he would meet his end at the hands of a Tarnished champion.

Appearance[]

Commander Gaius is an albinauric without legs who rides a heavily armored, great-tusked boar. Gaius wears black iron armor patterned to represent fallen seeds and wields the Sword Lance.[1] He was cursed by his Albinauric heritage and as such was doomed to lose the use of his legs.[5]

Boss Fight[]

Commander Gaius will charge with his boar to try to run you over. This can be dodge by jumping over with torrent or dodging at a very exact moment. He also uses gravity magic to attack enemies that are too far away.
