Colossal Remains are objects in Elden Ring.
Overview[]

A giant skull in the foggy Forbidden Lands
The colossal remains are mountainous skeletal vestiges of a long-extinct species of giant, whose sheer size far surpassed that of Trolls and even Fire Giants. Their immense skulls feature hollow eye sockets large enough to accommodate roosting Giant Crows, and their bones have hardened into solid stone.
These skeletons are embedded into the earth throughout Caelid and the Mountaintops of the Giants. In Caelid, the remains are deeply overgrown with large wooden roots and covered in a thick layer of fungal growth. In contrast, those found in the Mountaintops are fully exposed.
Most of the Mountaintops' colossal skeletons are located on Flame Peak. Two notable examples can be found within a fissure between the Foot of the Forge Site of Grace and the Fire Giant's boss arena.
Notes[]
- Only the upper torso and skulls are exposed.
- The skeletons found in Caelid are much larger than those on the Mountaintops.
- The cause of the colossal giants' extinction remains unknown.
- Due to the enormity of their size, it's possible these colossal giants were the original architects of the ancient ruins like the Rauh Ruins along with other landmarks that share the same architectural style, such as the Forge of the Giants and the Divine Towers.
- The giants are the only known creatures large enough to have used the arrowhead that became the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword. It is possible they were the old gods.
Trivia[]
- In Norse mythology, the jötunn Vafþrúðnir claims the earth was formed from the body of Ymir.
- Elden Ring Closed Network Test, heads of similar proportions were present in Limgrave when viewed from Stormveil Castle. Deep lacerations were carved into their stone flesh, which burned like coals.[1] In the
- cut boss enemy based on the Umibozu was of comparable size the colossal skeletons.[2][3] A
