Acquisition[]
- Starting equipment for the Confessor class.
- Nomadic Merchant southeast of Coastal Cave, beneath the collapsed structure.
Notes[]
- The default skill is useful for breaking the guard of blocking enemies with the light attack version or for breaking their Stance with the heavy attack version.
- Always has the highest Attack Power (AP) of all regular Straight Swords, with the exception of the Quality Affinity, primarily due to its high base damage being able to compensate for its somewhat mediocre scaling.
- Since it's acquirable extremely early, as soon as the tutorial is completed, this weapon is a useful tool for potentially the entire game.
- Surprisingly, compared to its predecessors from previous game, this weapon isn't short but merely of average length.
- Leans towards Strength for Cold and Blood/Poison affinities.
- Despite having the highest damage and scaling on its Heavy affinity it actually gives slightly weaker Strength-scaling for "bullet"-type (i.e. doesn't scale directly with the used weapon's damage) Skills with a Heavy, Quality, or Fire affinity, giving them usually about 2% less damage than they otherwise would have. This includes, as an example, the skills Ground Slam, Storm Blade, and Flame of the Redmanes (these skills however perform as normal on any affinity besides Heavy).
- Has a unique heavy attack and rolling attack, shared with the Cane Sword, replacing the usual thrusts with a broad, sweeping strike and an upward cut specifically.
- This is mostly a disadvantage. While the unique heavy attack is mostly good, it lacks the Pierce damage of the usual Straight Sword heavy attack and thus can't counter-hit attacking foes, while the unique rolling attack is very lacking in reach.
Upgrade Information[]
- Upgraded with regular Smithing Stones.
- Can have its Affinity and Skill changed.
- All non-physical Affinities lower all types of guarded damage negation by 5%, except for the associated element where the damage negation increases by 25% and another element also increases by 15%.
- Magic negation receives the secondary 15% negation bonus on Sacred and Cold affinities, Fire negation gets the increase on Lightning affinity, Lightning negation gets the increase on Fire and Flame Art affinities, and Holy negation gets the increase on Magic affinity.
- The upper number in the Atk column denotes Physical base damage while the lower, colored number in the Atk column denotes elemental base damage: red for Fire damage, yellow for Lightning damage, orange for Holy damage, and cyan for Magic damage.
