Tarnished held in thrall by cessblood. Zealots who stalk their own. If you stay the path, you are certain to face more of them. Just remember, no kinship with their ilk remains. Their madness precludes it. Don't let your emotions stay your blade.- Yura, Hunter of Bloody Fingers

The Bloody Fingers are a covenant of invaders from Mohg the Lord of Blood's burgeoning Mohgwyn Dynasty. By his will, these bloodthirsty Tarnished hunt their own.

Overview[]

This group of Tarnished is similar in practice to the Recusants of the Volcano Manor, in that Bloody Fingers seek out and kill other Tarnished throughout the Lands Between. However, they seem to differ in long-term goals as well as rites of induction. To become a Bloody Finger, one must be inducted via a process overseen by a White Mask, such as Varré. The first step is to prove their dedication to their Lord's cause by hunting fellow Tarnished, using fetishes made from Furled Fingers blackened with blood congestion, to invade their worlds as blood-red phantoms; these seem to have been chopped off rather unceremoniously. Killing one Host of Fingers, or attempting to do so at least three times, is enough to pass this step. Next, the inductee must stain a special cloth, the Lord of Blood's Favor, in the blood of a Tarnished's Finger Maiden. One need not necessarily kill a maiden, let alone their own maiden, to do so, as long as they can obtain the blood. With this done, it can be brought to the White Mask.

The initiate, now a formal Bloody Finger, is then given one last blessing: the Lord of Blood's own glistening blood, siphoned into the nail of their finger. This Bloody Finger's skin becomes sickly pale and loses feeling, although the nail aches with sweetest pain. The process is agonizing, but it gives the ability to invade other worlds as often as they like without the need for the consumable fingers. Over time, the inductee begins to fall to "cessblood", an infection-like condition that causes an onset of bloodlust and insanity, removing any inhibition that would prevent the Bloody Finger from killing their fellow Tarnished with a zealous devotion to Mohg.

The new Bloody Finger may also be given a Pureblood Knight's Medal, with the power as to gain an audience with Mohg himself, when the time is right; obtaining one sometimes requires the White Mask to go out of their way to ontain it.

There are those that hunt the Bloody Fingers in return, however: Yura is one such warrior seeking to put an end to their cessblood. The group has taken notice of this, however, and sent assassins after him.

Trivia[]

Sanguine Nobles, who have ties to the Bloody Fingers and Mohg, are noted to have curly black horns similar to his coming from their head and their feet, as well as sporting claws. Given that Cessblood seems to use his blood, this process appears capable of partially transforming someone, over time, into an Omen or at least taking on Omen traits.
