Banished Knight is an enemy in Elden Ring.
Overview[]
Knights who, whether by misfortune or misdeed, were forced to abandon their homes.[1] Most were sent to the fringes, forced to start anew with only despair for company.[2] Many of them wear helms adorned with sculptures of dragons, although some cover their helms with deep red scarves to protect themselves from the biting winds of the fringes.[3]
Two notable Banished Knights are Oleg and Engvall, referred to as the Wings of the Storm. After their banishment, they were extended invitations by the Grace-Given Lord. While Oleg accepted this invitation, earning an Erdtree burial[4], Engvall rejected it and instead chose to watch over a masterless castle, gaining reknown as a hero of the fringes.[5]
They are often accompanied by Exile Soldiers.

Variant Description[]
Banished Knights clad in ornate armour, found defending Stormveil Castle. They fight using greatswords and halberds, and can utilise storm-based combat arts in battle. Spectral versions of these knights can be encountered in Castle Sol, in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Banished Knights who wear red scarves over their helmets. Some of these knights are capable of using Dragon Communion Incantations, such as Dragonfire, while others utilise storm arts. Spectral versions of these knights can be found in Fringefolk Hero's Grave in Limgrave.

Trivia[]
- The Japanese name 失地騎士 (shicchi kishi), literally meaning "knights who have lost their land to an enemy", implies that the "Banished Knights" have been driven from their homeland by force.
